At a time when the attention of the whole country was towards the “political drama” in Punjab, terrorists targeted the capital city of Pakistan. At least one cop was martyred, while around 10 people were injured in the suicide blast occurred in Islamabad on Friday.
As per the law enforcement agencies, ICT personnel stopped a suspicious vehicle during checking near Street 31 of I-10/4 Sector, on this suicide bomber inside the vehicle exploded himself.
Interior Minister Rana Sana Ullah has revealed that the terrorists had a plan of attacking a “high value target”. He said that the attackers wanted to enter an important building such as the Parliament House, Supreme Court, Prime Minister House, PTV, and high courts. He added had the car not been stopped then there would have been many casualties. The minister admitted that this would have been a shame for the country if the attack had taken place at a high-value building or Red Zone area.
Though the banned Tahreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has not yet accepted the responsibility of this suicide attack, some informed journalists have claimed that TTP is behind this blast as the banned outfit wanted to attack on any important target in the capital city as a reaction of Bannu operation and to show their strength to the state.
After the banned TTP announced to end ceasefire with Pakistan last month, the country has witnessed a significant increase in terrorists attacks. Earlier the outlaw group targeted Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan provinces by bomb attacks and suicide blasts and now the circle of their attacks extended to federal capital Islamabad.
It is a bitter truth that TTP’s terrorists have safe havens in Afghanistan while Taliban administration is fully supporting them as the both have a same mindset, but unfortunately Pakistan policy regarding TTP and Afghan Taliban is very soft. If Pakistan does not change this policy immediately, it is fear that the fire of terrorism can once again engulf the entire country as it did in the past.
