U-Turn

The leader who is famous for his U-Turns has changed his stance on the dissolution of Punjab and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies, but this time this move can be called a positive “U-Turn”.

Yes, here I’m taking about PTI Chairman Imran Khan, who gave the federal government an ultimatum to either “sit and talk and give a date for the general elections” or “we will dissolve the assemblies”.

In a speech to the Punjab Parliamentary Party, he said: “Considering all this, I have decided that either this will happen that they sit with us [and decide a date for the polls or] imagine that there will be an election in almost 66 per cent of Pakistan — in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab — if we dissolve the assemblies.”

Khan sahab in a fiery speech to the protestors in the Rawalpindi long march, Imran Khan announced to come out of this corrupt system but now Khan sahab is asking for a date from the same corrupt system and delaying the move of dissolution of the assemblies.

This is a good sign that Khan sahab is now taking political moves and have learnt that the election date will not be given from Rawalpindi and the change of command in the Pakistan Army has also forced confident Khan to look for his other options as what he was expecting did not happen.

Khan sahab had numerous meetings with the parliamentary party of KP and Punjab and the top leadership of the party but failed to give the date of the dissolution of assemblies and ended up offering talks to the government.

The recent interview of Moonis Elahi has also sparked speculations about differences between the PTI and PML-Q. Elahi in his interview said they want Punjab Assembly to be dissolved after presenting the budget and also contradicted the narrative of PTI against the former COAS general retired Bajwa.

PML-Q leader Moonis Elahi in his interview claimed that former army chief retired Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa had advised his party to support the PTI in a weeks-long tussle that ended with the ouster of Imran Khan as the prime minister through a no-confidence vote in April.

“At present, a certain section on social media has been bashing Bajwa sahib without any reason. He is the same Bajwa sahib who had bent the direction of the river’s flow for the PTI,” Moonis said, adding that he had had a disagreement on this with the PTI and anyone else speaking against the retired army chief.

The difference of opinion with the PML-Q might have forced Imran Khan to take a U-Turn and invite the government for talks, which is a good omen.

Political matters are always discussed at the table and good to see the former prime minister turning political by leaving the “Fingers” of umpires.
