Karachi has recorded an 11 percent increase in street crimes over the past year, with several incidents reported in the country’s largest city.
According to the details, the number of incidents of street crimes in Karachi this year was around 73,000, while the increase in crimes this year was 11 percent compared to last year. The incidents of robbing citizens in broad daylight increased.
Earlier, 65,901 incidents of street crimes were reported in Karachi from January to October 2021, while 72,941 incidents were reported during the same period in 2022.

During October alone, 7,789 incidents of street crimes were reported in Karachi, while 5,042 incidents of motorcycle theft and snatching were reported. People lost 215 valuable vehicles. In October itself, 2,232 mobile phones were also confiscated.
Snap checking is done at night in Karachi while the establishment of the Shaheen Force has also been useful in controlling street crimes, but more street crimes were reported during October last month than in September.
