Maryam Nawaz’s departure for London

Shahid Shahnawaz by Shahid Shahnawaz

Reading Time: 2 mins read

Almost three years ago, when former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif left for London in November 2019, many people said that the PML-N supremo will not come back, but we did not believe and yesterday we heard the news that the daughter of the former prime minister, Maryam Nawaz has also left for London.

Surprisingly, Maryam Nawaz was in such a hurry to go to London that she left for Britain the day after she got her passport back from the Lahore High Court. The good thing is that before reaching the airport, she went to recite the Fateha at the graves of her grandparents and mother.

Today, the Pakistani media is saying that Maryam Nawaz will stay in London for at least a month and then she will return home with her father Mian Nawaz Sharif. However, this question is important in its place. Nawaz Sharif, who has not returned to Pakistan from the past 3 years, why will he come to Pakistan this year?

Nawaz Sharif will come to Pakistan next year. Next month will come, we have read much such news and the sin of believing them has also been committed by us. Ministers of Pakistan Muslim League-N including Mian Javed Latif and Khawaja Asif have also announced the good news of Nawaz Sharif’s arrival, but what happened?

It happened that Maryam Nawaz, the vice president of PML-N also went to London for the purpose of bringing back Nawaz Sharif, which has made a question asked in the past more complicated.

For example, at first, people used to ask only if Nawaz Sharif will come to Pakistan from London and when? But after the departure of Maryam Nawaz, the question will be that when will both Maryam Nawaz and Nawaz Sharif return home? Will Maryam Nawaz come back alone or she will also stay there?

Innumerable questions can be asked because Maryam Nawaz’s long-confiscated passport was returned and as soon as it was done, the very next day Maryam Nawaz packed her bags and boarded a plane. On this occasion, some bitter questions can be asked which are not related to Maryam Nawaz but to the judiciary.

Those bitter questions are if the passport of Maryam Nawaz was to be confiscated, why was it returned? And if giving it back was just justice, why was that passport confiscated for so long? Is it not unfair to Maryam Nawaz? And if not, how was it fair to let them go to London? As Pakistani citizens, we have every right to ask countless such questions.
