TikTok and young generation

Hafsa Abdul Qayoom by Hafsa Abdul Qayoom

Youth is the best asset of any country, if a country takes the support of the young generation for better performance, it can develop a lot in the world. The young generation can play a role for the development and improvement of the nation. But our youth have created a world of their own, a world that has been decorated with different characters acting and music.

It is the world of TikTok that has made a large number of people addicted to it. According to a report, 500 million people have become TikTok users. TikTok is one such app of today’s era that has the younger generation behind it in the race to get shares and likes.

Generally, anyone making a video on TikTok has only one goal to get more likes and share their video more. No matter how many bad things the boys and girls have to do in this race, they continue to produce their videos by embracing the addiction to music. 3 to 4 minutes or 4 to 6 minutes video is prepared by our youth with acting and music dance and make it a fun message and go viral.

It is sad that the precious capital of the country i.e. the youth wants to be completely indifferent to the fact that most of the videos do not convey any message other than profanity. The videos in which the boy and girl are holding hands and expressing love and fun are nothing but inviting immorality and making it public.

There are countless TikTok videos in which the girls of the Muslim community make videos on various topics by dressing up and they are probably unaware of this verse of the Holy Quran.

“Stay resolutely in your homes. Do not show adornment to non-muharram men, as was done in the earlier days of Jahiliyyat.”
(Surah Al-Ahzab)

TikTok videos, popular among the youth, have lost respect for elders and respect for elders. This unbridled entertainment has led to extreme apathy and has turned the youth away from education and into making money through these videos. It feels like the worst moments of stage plays are being repeated. Tik Tok is an app that also has the facility of life, so romantic and lewd conversations are also resorted to during the whole night party.

The Holy Prophet (Peace and blessings of Allah Be Upon Him) said:

Some people of my ummah will drink alcohol, but changing its name, their gatherings will be warmed by music, bajas and singing women. Allah will sink them into the earth and turn some of them into monkeys and pigs.”

(Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah)

The tragedy of the society is that the youth living in Muslim society has good knowledge about TikTok stars but have no knowledge and interest in knowing about the companions of the Holy Prophet.

Our young generation is getting spoiled due to TikTok and they are wasting their precious time on this temporary entertainment which cannot be termed as a positive trend for their future.

If the young generation is not stopped from the negative use of TikTok, our society will continue to move towards a huge deterioration which can hinder the development of a country like Pakistan with economic problems.
