Renowned fashion designer Maria leaves no chance to be in a headline for the controversial or poor choice of words.
Maria B has once again landed herself in hot water after posting multiple stories on her Instagram account with transphobic comments.
It all started when transgender rights activist Mehrub Moiz Awan, who was once known as Desi Bombshell Shumaila Bhatti, was barred from TEDx ISL. The reason for her being censored was because some parents could ‘not allow transgender people to speak to their kids’.
To this, maria B decided to share her two cents and shared who qualifies as a transgender. Taking to her Instagram stories, the designer revealed that her own kids go to ISL, and hence, she is one of the parents who do not want people like Moiz Awan to serve as role models for their kids.
Becoming an advocate for the transgender community, Maria B stated that Awan is not a part of the community and instead, ‘a man transitioning into a woman’ and hence, her kids need to know the difference between genderless and trans individuals.
After her statement, many social media users bashed the designer and defended Dr. Mehrub Moiz, and expressed disbelief at Maria B’s opinions; Let’s have a look:
