SADIQABAD: A video of a boat carrying the family members of the groom overturning in the Indus River has been making rounds on social media.
According to the sources, there were more than capable people on two boats and it can be seen in the video as well. The riders of the other boat jumped into the river to save the drowning people.
Rescue sources say that so far the bodies of 22 people have been recovered, while more than 28 are missing. It should be remembered that a boat full of 100 Baratis, including women and children, capsized in the Indus River yesterday.
Sources say that about 100 passengers were going from Kharoor to Machhaka with a procession when the boat overturned near Machhaka. The local people with their help saved a large number of those who fell into the river, but many people drowned, out of which 22 bodies have been recovered so far.
The Deputy Commissioner has confirmed that the bodies of 22 people have been removed from the accident so far. He further said that the unfortunate accident happened due to overloading, rescue operation is going on to search for the people who drowned in the river Indus.
