Rising inflation in Pakistan

Nadeem Moulvi by Nadeem Moulvi

Rising inflation is a thing that Pakistan has always been developing in. In the last 70 years, inflation in the country has been increasing day by day. Today in the country, whoever you ask, cries that inflation has broken his backbone.

The government seems to be forced to raise prices due to the rise in world market prices as the IMF is urging the government to increase the prices of petroleum products, electricity, and other commodities. Inflation is rising not only in Pakistan but all over the world. But the difference is that, in the world it rising under a certain discipline. When the developed countries increase the prices of essential commodities, they also provide an alternative to the people.

If we look into the history of Pakistan, it has been the practice of every government that whenever it comes to power, it promises to reduce inflation but unfortunately, instead of reducing it, it increases it. For the last 70 years, the plight of the people has been getting worse and worse.

When the people are crushed in the mill of inflation, they remind the government of their previous promise, the response from the government is that the cause of inflation is rising inflation in the world. The people understand this but as always appeal to the governments to also increase their salaries so that they can cope with the situation.

The increase in salaries here means to strengthen the country’s economy, to strengthen the economy so that investment in the country increases and business also increases, when business increases, the owners will get more profit and will be able to increase the salaries of their employees.

If we look at the situation of the last 4 years, the reserves in the country are the same as they were 4 years ago, while inflation has increased by 150 percent in recent years and salaries have increased by hardly 20 to 30 percent.

The country is facing huge losses due to a non-increase in salaries, especially for those who are struggling to make two ends meals or eagerly waiting for their salaries at the end of every month.

Due to rising inflation in the country, crimes and illegal activities have also increased alarmingly, and if this situation continues then the people who are forced to suffer from inflation will either commit suicide or make their children quit education and earn money. Nowadays, a person can fill his stomach but when it comes to satisfying the basic needs, he sees an empty pocket.

Basic necessities include electricity, education, clothing, and even post-mortem expenses, and sadly, in the current situation in Pakistan, it has not been easy for the common man to die. Because when it comes to burial and shrouds, they cannot even buy shrouds or a grave, as their prices are skyrocketing day by day.

I will end my talk with this advice to the government that increases inflation but also give an alternative to the people, not to create such conditions that the people started thinking that it is better to die than to live. Therefore the government is requested to also increase the salaries whenever you rise prices. Because a helpless person can never ask his employer to increase his salary. He knows very well that if he talks about an increase in his salary, the employer will hire someone else for less than him and he will be fired.

Keep in mind that whenever there is an increase in inflation around the world, the governments also increase the facilities of the people, they increase their salaries so that the people do not get overwhelmed by the burden of inflation. Unfortunately, even today we hope that the government will perhaps understand the pain of the people and will increase their salaries and facilities against the rising inflation.
