Much awaited drama serial ‘Badshah Begum’ has finally aired its first episode.
Produced by Rafay Rashdi, the anticipated drama features a star-studded cast including Zara Noor Abbas, Farhan Saeed, Ali Rehman, Yasir Hussain, Abul Hassan, Komal Mir, Hiba Aziz, Tanya Hussain, Hamza Sohail, Shahzad Nawaz, Saman Ansari, and others.
After its first episode, there is one thing that the audience is sure of that ‘Badshah Begum’ does not only confound audience expectations but also tackles powerplay and politics. Aiming at patriarchy, this drama is not everyone’s cup of tea.
According to the producer of Badshah Begum, the drama:
- Is very contemporary and not a period drama.
- Aims at the female protagonist living in a patriarchal society.
- Shows women empowerment and a woman on the gaddi (seat).
The drama does show politics in an urban areas and how people living there are mistreated by feudal lords and peers but still chooses silence. On the contrary, there is are other family members of the same peer family who seemed liberal and quite modern despite being the heirs of strictly religious peers.
