KP local govt polls

Umar Farooq by Umar Farooq
December 27, 2021
Reading Time: 3 mins read

In the first phase of local body elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Maulana Fazlur Rehman has hit Imran Khan with such a vicious bouncer, after which Khan has no option but to retire hurt. Maulana Fazlur Rehman has maintained from day one that Imran Khan has been brought to power by crutches. But now, crutches have been broken by the incompetence of Imran Khan and his team.

The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have rejected Imran Khan’s Tabdeeli (change). Tabdeeli is not coming but going home. Three years ago, the country was plagued by PTI and today the situation is such that people are rejected this “change” while the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have to be commended for bearing this change for eight years.

The people are even more angry than you think. The people of KP are not only expressing their hatred towards the PTI ministers but they are also attacking them. The question is why should people vote for PTI? What is the credentials of PTI that should be appreciated? What are the plans that have been made for the welfare of the people and the country? What are the steps that should be appreciated?

Apart from the false slogan of change, PTI candidates have nothing to offer. We should appreciate the PTI candidates for their courage to demand votes for ‘bat’ even in these circumstances. It is a feat of the PTI government that its spokespersons, ministers are experts in slander, lies, and media trial.

When Maulana Fazlur Rehman was ousted from the assembly through rigging in the 2018 elections, people thought that he was a common Maulvi of the madrassa. He will sit in despair, his party will be scattered. Attempts were made to create a rift in Maulana’s party. Political minors were raised from his party to challenge Maulana. False charges were filed against Maulana’s associates.

He was threatened by NAB trial, allegations of corruption were leveled, media trial was conducted and some religious impersonations were launched against JUI-F chief but all the tactics have failed. And despite all the intrigues, accusations and threats, Maulana firmly stood in the field.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman declared a coup d’etat by calling on the government from the first day after the last election. If other political parties had not taken the oath of the Assemblies following the announcement of Maulana, this would not be the case today. Today, everyone is acknowledging that the advice given by Maulana was correct.

The results of KP local body elections are showing that PTI cannot be successful in elections without rigging and crutches, be it 2018 elections, be it senate election, be it chairman senate election, PTI has never been successful in a transparent manner.

The PTI also knows that their performance is not such that people can trust them. That is why the PTI leaders were fleeing from the local body elections in KP. After the local body elections, the PTI ministers including the Prime Minister Imran Khan are now worried. Despite being stopped by the Election Commission, Imran Khan reached Peshawar and once again gave false consolation to the people.

The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are once again returning to the original candidates. In the next election, the traditional rivals, i.e. book and lantern, are seen competing. If the PPP does not get rid of the traditional hypocrisy, the situation will be even worse. The PPP has managed to win only one seat using all its strength and is at the seventh position in the province.
