KARACHI: The crime rate in Karachi has further increased in one year, this year more than 24,000 mobile phones have been snatched from the citizens, so far.
According to the police, 20,743 mobile phones were snatched in Karachi in the year 2020 while 24130 mobile phones have been snatched in Karachi so far in the year 2021.
Police say 1,560 vehicles were snatched or stolen in Karachi last year, and 2,060 vehicles have been snatched or stolen so far in 2021.
In the year 2020, about 35,000 motorcycles were snatched or stolen from Karachi while so far this year about 50,000 motorcycles have been snatched or stolen.

Police say that there have been 24 incidents of kidnapping for ransom in Karachi last year and 55 this year. In 2020, there were 151 incidents of extortion in Karachi and this year there were 116 incidents.
Last year 507 people were killed in Karachi, in the year 2021 so far 541 people have been killed.
