Finally, some good news has been received regarding women sports players. The Cricket Board or Sports Federation has come up with the idea that if you want to get performances from a female player, their injuries and problems are also your problems. If a player is in trouble, he/she will be unable to perform.
Like other things in Pakistan, the sports have also faced severe obstacles. Which means the performance belongs to board but the problems belong to players. However, it is a good thing that the board or the federation has come up with the idea of taking responsibility for the problems of the players.
Women players, in particular, deserve your attention no matter what level they are playing at and it is a welcome tradition for the board to address the players’ issues. It is hoped that this initiative will create confidence and enthusiasm in the players, the effect of which will be seen in the performance of the players.
Once, we travelled to Larkana to participate in the Sindh Games and all the players were exhausted in a temperature of around 50 degrees. After traveling 8 to 9 hours, when we reached Mirpurkhas, we had matches in the scorching heat. The session resumes from 8 to 11 a.m. and in the evening. These were netball competitions in which the umpire also had to be constantly active.
It was the first time we had seen such scorching heat. During the water break in a match, one of our fellow umpires tried to drink water but fainted there. Our teammates tried some domestic tricks to enable the umpire to spend a day there but she could not come out of his room.
There, no federation official or authorized person showed any interest in treating the female umpire. The rest of us there helped our teammate on our own and somehow brought him to Karachi. A similar incident happened to national cricketer Bismah Amjad a few days ago when she was hit on the head at PCB academy.
Bismah was taken to hospital, where she was billed 54,000. At that time, the officials refused to pay the bills. Unfortunately, Bismah’s condition remained bad for many days due to lack of effective treatment and money. However, later the PCB later took charge of Bismah Amjad’s treatment.
These are just a couple of examples. There are countless instances when it is extremely difficult to play or supervise in severe weather and problems arise. However, now there is a ray of hope that even the minor problems of the players will be taken seriously.
Injury can happen to anyone, but as far as female players are concerned, there are already very few opportunities for girls in our society. Because, in our society, it is very difficult for the parents to allow the girls to play and it is impossible for this girl to come back after the injury.
It is our request to the board that a human being is a noble creature and as a player you should help and guide them in every way so that the player or official can present its sophisticated game with full effort and attention as well as dedication and passion.
