KARACHI: The city transport association has threatened to observe a strike against the rising petroleum prices in the country.
A meeting of the organizing committee of Karachi Bus Owners Association was held under the chairmanship of Syed Irshad Hussain Shah Bukhari.
Senior Vice President, Farooq Ahmed, Vice President, Din Muhammad Baloch, General Secretary, Muhammad Ilyas, Senior Joint Secretary, Khayal Muhammad Khan Afridi, Muhammad Naeem-ud-Din Siddiqui, Malik Aftab Ahmed, Arif Ali, Nadeem Afzal, Jahan Zeb Khan, Muhammad Azam, Syed Muzammil Hassan and other officials and members attended.
The meeting expressed deep concern over the rise in petroleum prices and the 10-day shutdown of CNG. Transporters said the government has created livelihood problems for them by increasing the price of diesel by Rs 12.70 per liter and petrol by Rs 10.49.

Transporter leaders said that Karachi’s transport was already sobbing and now the matter has gone too far. The mountains of oppression on the poor people and transporters have been broken. Before coming to power, Prime Minister Imran Khan had said in his speech that if petrol prices go up by one rupee, then the Prime Minister is a thief, now what should be said?
He said that transporters have started cutting buses. Minibusses and coaches are becoming mini-trucks. This spiraling inflation has forced transporters to abandon the business. The government has not fulfilled a single promise it has made to date. Take away jobs instead of giving them jobs.
On the other hand, an emergency meeting was also held at the office of Karachi Goods Care Association which was attended by a large number of people. Members openly disagreed with the administration on the issue.
