The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has dismissed the bail petitions filed by the parent of Zahir Jaffer, the prime suspect in Noor Mukadam’s murder case.
IHC while rejecting the plea ruled that the parents of Zahir Jaffer would remain in jail until the completion of the trial.
The case of Noor Mukadam, a 27-year-old woman who was brutally murdered in July, grabbed media attention and since then it has been dominated headlines for over two months now.
A court has ruled to wind up the high-profile Noor Mukadam murder case within eight weeks. This has raised optimism about whether Noor will get justice and when the case will be solved.
Noor Mukadam
Noor Mukadam was the daughter of former Pakistani diplomat Shaukat Mukadam. She was murdered and beheaded in Islamabad in July by Zahir Jaffer, an heir to Jaffer Group of Companies – one of Pakistan’s wealthiest families.

A first information report (FIR) was registered in the month of July against Zahir under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of Noor’s father, Shaukat Ali Mukadam.
The arrest of privileged ones
In July, Zahir Jaffer along with his parents was arrested and the court sent Zahir on remand. His name was also added to the movement blacklist. In August, Zahir Jaffer was moved to the Adiala Jail on judicial remand and he is still been serving there.
Bail of parents
Earlier today, the bail of the parents of Zahir Jaffer was turned down by the IHC. Since July, the parents of Zahir Jaffer have been applying for bail.
Even earlier this month, the counsel for Zahir’s parents Zakir Jaffer and Asmat Adamjee had concluded his arguments on their bail petitions before the IHC.
However, IHC Justice Aamer Farooq had reserved the verdict on the bail petitions. The court has set the date of hearing in the case as 6th October.
Confession of Zahir Jaffer
An interim challan submitted by the police in the Noor Mukadam murder case stated that Zahir Jaffer confessed to killing Noor after she refused to marry him.
According to reports, the DNA test also showed the victim was raped before being killed. The supplementary challan regarding the laptop and mobile phone reports is yet to be submitted by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing.
According to the interim police challan, the suspect made a statement to killing the victim and beheading her.
When will Noor’s case be solved?
A sessions court in Islamabad has set 6th October for framing of charges in the Noor Mukadam murder case. A total of 12 people will be indicted in the case, including Zahir Jaffer, and his parents.
