LAHORE: Mushtaq Dasti, brother of former MNA Jamshed Dasti, has been gunned down in Punjab’s Muzaffargarh district, a police spokesperson said on Sunday.
According to details, the incident reportedly took place after a fighting erupted between rival parties during a Panchayat (village council) session, which was being held in a small village of Muzaffargarh.
Initial reports suggest that one person sustained injuries while the veteran politician’s elder brother, Mushtaq Dasti, was killed in the shooting incident. Rescue sources said the body has been shifted to district headquarters hospital (DHQ) for autopsy.
Earlier this week, MPA Malik Asad Ali Khokhar’s brother, Mubashir Khokhar, was killed when unidentified assailants opened fire at the wedding ceremony of MPA’s son in Lahore.
According to details, two people sustained injuries after two unidentified gunmen opened fire at the wedding ceremony in DHA area of the provincial capital. Both the injured were rushed to the nearby hospital but unfortunately MPA’s brother succumbed to his injuries.
Punjab government spokesperson Mussarat Cheema also confirmed that the chief minister was present in the ceremony. “A large number of people were present in the ceremony. Asad Khokhar remained safe. The chief minister and other personalities are safe,” she added.
