BAHAWALNAGAR: An armed gang of men attacked police officials with sticks and attempted to kidnap a woman in Bahawalnagaron Monday.
According to details, a group of armed men attempted to kidnap the woman, who was being brought to a court from Dar-ul-Aman to Tehsil Chishtiyan.
When police intervened to save the woman, the men attacked them with sticks. However, police managed to foil their attempts to take the woman through force. Police said the men had mistaken the woman for their relative. However, after realizing their mistake, they fled from the scene.
On the other hand, sources said the police are trying to save the criminals on the pressure from influentials. the armed men have tried to abduct the woman over a personal enmity source disclosed. Police registered a case against 12 persons for the attack.
Earlier, an eight-year-old girl, who went missing from an engagement ceremony, was strangled to death after being raped in Attock, a police spokesperson said on February 28.
According to details, the girl, identified as Fatima, went missing from an engagement ceremony, last night and later search for the girl was started on the complaint of the mother.
The body was recovered near Chhach Interchange in Attock. The police spokesperson has informed that the girl was allegedly raped and later strangulated to death.
“The body has been moved to Huzro hospital for postmortem, further investigation into the incident was underway,” the spokesperson added. A First Information Report (FIR) had been registered against unidentified persons.
District Police Officer (DPO) Attock Syed Khalid Hamdani has taken notice of the incident and has formed a special team to investigate the case. The team will be directly reporting to the DPO.
