MANSEHRA: Intelligence agency personnel on Friday claimed to have arrested a key commander of a banned outfit during a targeted operation in Mansehra.
According to security sources, on a tip-off, the personnel of intelligence agencies conducted a targeted operation and arrested the commander, Murad Ali of the banned Jamaat-ul-Ahrar.
During the operation important documents, electronic devices and mobile phones have also been recovered from his possession. Citing the details of arrested terrorist sources said Murad Ali had fled abroad during Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad but returned later on.
Sources said his accomplices were during Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad. Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad was launched to eliminate terrorism in the country.
On January 12, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab claimed to have arrested two alleged terrorists from the Dera Ghazi Khan area.
According to details, upon receiving information the law enforcement team raided their hideout and arrested both of them. “The arrested accused wanted to target religious places,” the CTD spokesman said.
The CTD spokesman further said that explosive material and weapons were recovered from their possession. The law enforcement agency has been involved in foiling terror-related activities in the Punjab province.
Earlier, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) foiled a major terror bid in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur by arresting four suspects and seizing a huge quantity of explosive material and two vehicles.
Police had told media that a major terrorist bid was foiled by the timely action of security officials by arresting suspects and seizing explosive material from their possession.
