ISLAMABAD: The export of tobacco from the country witnessed raises of 42.85 percent during the first six months of the financial year 2020-21, as compared to the corresponding period of last year.
According to the data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, Tobacco exports during the first six months of FY 2020-21 grew by 42.85 percent as compared to the exports of the corresponding period of last year.
During the period from July-Dec 20, worth the US $ 20,159 were exported this year as compared to the exports of US $ 14,112 same period during last year.
According to the Statistics, the exports of Spices were increased by 4.55 percent, worth the US $ 41,071 exported as compared to last year which was the US $ 39,284 in the same period.
Meanwhile, Meat and meat preparations exports were increased by 4.12 percent, worth US $ 162,205 items which were also exported in the current financial year as compared to the exports valuing the US $ 155,780 of the same period last year.
Earlier, Advisor to Prime Minister for Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood had said, “It is even more encouraging to note that the non-textile sector exports are also showing healthy growth”.
During July-December 2020, the exports of Pharmaceuticals increased by 25 percent to $138 million, Ethanol Alcohol (Industrial) by 14 percent to $ 182 million, Tobacco and Cigarettes by 84.50 percent to $29 million, and Processed Food by 120 percent to $ 25 million, he added.
He said, “Our local companies should acquire overseas companies and brands, through proper channels, as it increases outreach in the global market and thereby increases our market share.”
Razak Dawood said that Pakistani companies, formally reaching out across the globe, are a welcome sign. “I wish Artistic Milliners every success” he added.
