PULWAMA: Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) leader Mehbooba Mufti claimed that she and her daughter were put under house arrest and not allowed to visit the Pulwama residence of party leader Waheed Parra, who was arrested by the Indian forces earlier this week.
On a social media website Twitter, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) said that she had tried to visit the family of PDP youth wing President Waheed Parra who was arrested by Indian forces allegedly for being involved in a terror case.
“I’ve been illegally detained yet again. For two days, the J&K admin has refused to allow me to visit @parawahid’s family in Pulwama. BJP Ministers & their puppets are allowed to move around in every corner of Kashmir but security is a problem only in my case,” she added.
In her tweet, the PDP leader attached a photo of an armored vehicle parked outside her house. Parra, her assistant, was instrumental in the revival of PDP in the South Kashmir district, especially Pulwama. It is from here that he had filed his nomination papers for the District Development Council (DDC) elections – the first phase of which will be held on November 28.
Mehbooba Mufti had defended the PDP youth leader, saying he was arrested “on baseless charges”, and that her daughter was placed under house arrest because she too wanted to visit his family.

Earlier, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) office in Jammu has been attacked by an angry mob on 25 October. The incident took place a day after party chief Mehbooba Mufti said she will not unfurl the national flag until she brings back the flag of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to media reports, a group of unidentified men forcibly hoisted the Indian tricolor at the Jammu office of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The party’s former MLA, Firdous Tak, and another leader got into an argument with the men, following which the police dispersed the people. The tricolor was also removed by the police, it stated.
“Few right-wingers” attacked him and another leader Parvez Waffa who were present at the office Tak tweeted. He said the attack was clearly a reaction to Mehbooba’s comment.
The PDP chief’s remark has drawn criticism from both state units of the BJP and Congress, which viewed it as “intolerable”.
In her first press conference after being released from detention of 14 months, Mehbooba Mufti said she would raise the Indian flag only when Jammu and Kashmir’s (J&K) flag, constitution and special status (under Article 370) were restored.
