SRINAGAR: Today marks 73 years since the people of Illegally Occupied Kashmir (IOK) have been facing illegal occupation of India.

In this regard, Pakistan will observe 27th October as ‘Black Day’ at the national and international level to express solidarity with Kashmiris facing illegal occupation and gross human rights violations.

On this day in 1947, India illegally landed its troops in Kashmir, which is still in existence. This day is the darkest day in the history of the world for occupied Jammu and Kashmir. On this date 73 years ago, India created a new story of oppression and barbarism.

On seeing that the Maharaja had lost its rule to the mujahideen, the report added, India on 27th October 1947, landed its troops in Jammu and Kashmir and forcibly occupied it against the wishes of the Kashmiri people. This is how the unending chapter of the sufferings of Kashmiri people started since the 27th of October, 1947, and that is why the day is marked as Black Day by the people of Jammu and Kashmir, every year.

Since the revocation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir in August 2019, the Indian military has intensified its counter-insurgency operations. Clashes in the first half of 2020 left 229 dead, including 32 civilians. The 283 people killed in all of 2019 was the highest toll for a decade.

Moreover,Maritime Affairs Minister Ali Zaidi on this day wrote in a tweet that we remind the world of India’s illegal occupation & oppression of Kashmir on this day in 1947. “Pakistanis stand with our Kashmiri brethren in their struggle for freedom & right to self-determination as promised in the various UN Security Council resolutions,” he wrote.
