People sacrifice their lives for the sake of their country and do not miss any opportunity to raise the head of their homeland with pride. Sport is the best way to conquer the world without a war or using the atomic bomb and Pakistani players have proved many times through their outstanding performance on the field.
There is no doubt that Pakistan’s reputation can be enhanced through sports. Invest in sports and bring in the best system that can hone the skills of players. If attention is paid to the players and coaches and investment is made, Pakistan will soon regain its lost place in sports.
The poor sports system in Pakistan has ruined many athletes and sports organizations and brought many champions to the brink of disaster.
Everyone in the sports world, hoping for the captain’s government, wants to see the system change, as well as the inhumane and unconstitutional actions of the past and the scourge of corruption.
But on the contrary, whether it was the reorganization of the Sports Board or the formation of a policy review committee, the steps taken by the government could not be welcomed in the world of sports.
Many neighboring countries have not only improved their sports systems but also restored the Olympic Committee to the International Olympic Committee. Of course, whenever reforms are made, some drastic measures have to be taken, but in the case of the Olympics, the silence of the ministry and the government, especially Imran Khan’s government, is a question mark.
Arshad Javed has become the record holder of Pakistan, South Asia, and Asian Games for his performance in the Tokyo Olympics. If the government pays attention to Arshad Javed and his coach Fayyaz Bukhari, then Pakistan can achieve a high place in the history of the Olympics.
Pakistan Athletic Federation, which is working hard on its own to make it possible to hold a scientific training camp for Arshad Javed, while Arshad with the help of his coach is continuing his training after the camp which ended due to the coronavirus pandemic and is improving his performance.
Arshad Javed and his coach should be provided only the best-qualified specialists, nutritionists, doctors and the best facility so that both can work hard together. For this purpose, an immediate camp should be started in Islamabad with the help of the Government of Pakistan so that Arshad Javed’s abilities can be utilized.
In the past two years, measures such as task force and sports board reform have not made a difference, while issues such as grouping in the Olympics have not been resolved.
I request the Centre not to cry for the fund and to market its product in a professional way, which will not only solve many of your problems but will also enhance the reputation of the dignity of Pakistan in the future.
The sports community appeals to Minister Fehmida Mirza to not only pay special attention to the sports system and immediately appoint the DG of the Sports Board but also to formulate an excellent policy through the policymakers.
