ISLAMABAD: A citizen was robbed of Rs1.5 million in Sector I-8 area of Islamabad.
The citizen named Athar Ejaz has deposited Rs400,000 at a bank and was heading towards another bank on foot. He was suddenly intercepted by three robbers riding on two motorcycles and robbed Rs1.5 million from him and fleed.
The incident took place at the I-8 Markaz with the jurisdiction of the Sector I-9 police station. The police reached the site of the robbery and have started further investigation.
It may be mentioned that Sector I-8 Markaz has seen a surge in criminal activities in recent weeks. A week earlier, a journalist was robbed of Rs800,000 in the area.
Police have failed any action against the presence of criminals in the sensitive area of the federal capital.
