ISLAMABAD: Government employees are allegedly renting out their government-allocated houses to unauthorized people illegally, it has been revealed.
According to details, government employees in Islamabad are illegally renting out their allotted houses in different areas for financial purposes. On the other hand, houses are being converted into shops for commercial use.
Sources have informed that local property dealers are renting houses to bachelors in order to increase the rent for the government employees. Tenants’ data is not even registered at the local police station in various Islamabad’s sectors.
Relevant sources further informed that the crime rate has also increased due to the high number of tenants in the sectors. The rent of a house ranges from about 18,000 to 25,000 which is paid by 10 to 12 people together.
Sources also claimed that some bachelors use alcohol and drugs till late at night, cannabis parties are organized and various illegal activities are carried out.
When contacted in this regard, the federal police said that police teams were working to control the crime rate. The police further informed that action will be taken against the accused after bringing the matter to the notice of higher authorities.
Earlier, Islamabad High Court (IHC) ordered to cancel the allotments of government housing to those employees who had sublet their accommodations to other private individuals.
