Our struggle is not against Prime Minister Imran Khan but those who brought him into power through the 2018 elections. This was stated by PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif while addressing the much-hyped PPP-hosted All Parties Conference (APC), aimed at devising a strategy to oust the PTI-led coalition government, via video link from London.
The violent speech marked the deposed prime minister’s political comeback after more than a year. Nawaz Sharif has once again strongly criticized the state institutions for their alleged involvement in country’s politics. This can be assuaged from the fact that the last-week meeting of Military leadership with parliamentary leaders emerged to refuse the involvement.
To be honest, the speech of Nawaz Sharif has increased pressure on the government. The speech is seen as one of Nawaz Sharif’s boldest to date particularly since he left for London. Many federal ministers termed Nawaz Sharif’s speech as an open declaration of war against the country.
The newly formed forum – Pakistan Democratic Movement – has demanded the immediate resignation of the premier and announced a three-phased anti-government movement.
The opposition had lost FATF vote in the joint session of parliament, despite majority. But the new game plan seems to put the incumbent government in anxiety. The new game plan includes joint rallies, huge public demonstrations and decisive long march, the same Imran Khan done after 2013 elections.
Opposition parties will also enlist lawyers, traders, farmers, students, media as well as members of the civil society in its movement. In a bid to overthrow the government, they will use every legal and constitutional option, which includes moving no-confidence motions and collective resignations from assemblies at an appropriate time.
Apparently, Pakistan is looking like a battlefield, where the leaders are battling for power. We would witness a lot of political action in the upcoming months. Whatever happens, but one thing should be clear that defaming state institutions can increase the confidence of our enemy states, which will directly affect Pakistan and its strength.
