ISLAMABAD: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh has said that Rs 5,000 billion has been saved in the government expenditure during the last two years.
Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh said that the export sector has been affected due to the coronavirus. The government reduced its expenditure and gave a free tax budget and the budget of the Pakistan Army was not increased.
He said that the government provided facilities to the business community for easy business. While during the coronavirus, the government also provided relief package and helped the victims, he added.
He further said that the government also distributed money among the beneficiaries in a transparent manner.”We are trying to attract the private sector and foreign investors and encourage the private sector for economic growth,” Sheikh added.

He said that the government not only provided financial assistance to 16 million people but also paid special attention to the rehabilitation of the backward classes.
The finance adviser said that the government did not provide any supplementary grants last fiscal year, but did not increase salaries to cut costs. “The government has given several incentives to increase exports, he said. Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh said that Rs. 5,000 billion was saved in government expenditure during the last two years.
