ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has reiterated that the PTI-led federal government was committed to extending all possible facilities to the exporters in order to enhance the country’s exports.
The statement came during a meeting with a delegation of leading exporters from various sectors in Islamabad today (Wednesday).
During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for a greater focus on capitalizing the country’s potential in services related exports. He also acknowledged the critical role of exports in the national economy including job creation and employment of young workforce.
PM Imran has expressed satisfaction that Pakistan’s economy is moving in the right direction. “Pakistan’s economy showing growth in exports after a global slump caused by coronavirus pandemic,” he added.
“In order to promote industrialization in country and to make our products competitive, the government has either eliminated or significantly reduced duties on hundreds of tariff lines including raw material for the local industry,” he remarked.
The premier assured that the refunds’ system has been streamlined to resolve liquidity issues of the exporters and industrialists. “We are vigorously pursuing ‘Made in Pakistan’ policy, to promote export-led industrialization in the country,” he added.
He pointed out that the exports could only be maintained through an increased focus on product and geographical diversification. In this regard, the delegation appreciated government policies and also presented various suggestions to increase country’s exports.
