RAWALPINDI: The flour mills in Rawalpindi are allegedly supplying substandard flour in various districts with the alleged connivance of the food department.
According to the Punjab food department, 75 percent of flour mills do not make flour according to the standard issued by the provincial government.
The people of rural areas of the city while complaining of the supply of substandard wheat flour said that the inhabitants are suffering from stomach related diseases. People informed that the price of flour was increasing with each passing day and the quality was also declining gradually.
Some flour mills held responsible the supply of sub-standard wheat from government’s warehouses to mills, saying the imported wheat is also not in good quality.
The public and social circles of the rural areas of the city have demanded of the authorities concerned to take notice of the issue and remove the complaints regarding the supply of poor quality wheat.
