SWABI: At least two people, including a child, died and six others were wounded after a house caught fire in the Thandkoi area of Swabi in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa today (Sunday).
According to details, the shoe factory in the basement of the house caught fire and it later spread to the other parts of the residential building.
Rescue officials informed that a child was burnt to death and another man died after jumping off the building. The wounded individuals were shifted to the hospital, while one of them was moved to the burns centre.
The authorities had dispatched six fire tenders to the spot and it took the firefighters over two hours to contain the fire. “The fire had been brought under control. The cooling process is underway,” the officials informed.
Earlier in July, a fire broke out at two cardboard factories and one plastic factory in Karachi’s Landhi area. Fire tenders were immediately called in to extinguish the blaze at the factories.
An emergency was imposed at the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board hydrants in Landhi and Safoora Goth. Fifteen water tankers were sent to the site immediately.
