ISLAMABAD: Illegal occupation on lands is ongoing in Tarnol, a small town located outside Islamabad, while police and local authorities have been unable to take action.
Imran Khan, resident of Sarai Kharboza with the remits of Tarnol police station, said he is the owner of lands serial no. 904-915 located on the entrance point of Dhoke Kashmirian in Golra Colony.
He said that construction for the foundation laying had started on his land, when around armed men bearing Kalashnikovs belonging to land mafia came and started hurling threats and abusing him. He said the miscreants were led by Ghazanfar Khan, his son Faizan, and Qamar Khan, while another named Sherry Khan was heavily armed.
He said that Sherry Khan pulled his weapon at him and threatened that they will not leave him alone. He said they assaulted him, tearing his clothes, and stopped the construction work at his lands. He said the land mafia is occupying lands in the area while the group threatens poor landowners. The ringleader of the group is Haji Muhammad Azam Khan.
The aggrieved man said that Inspector-General Police (IGP) Islamabad had taken notice of the occupation but police have taken no action. He urged Chief Commissioner Islamabad and Deputy Commissioner to take action against the land mafia.
He demanded protection for himself and his family, arresting the culprits, and strict punishment for the culprits. He said the accused should be held responsible if any harm is caused to his family.
