LAHORE: A man and a woman were stabbed to death by their relatives in the name of ‘honour’ in Bhakkar district of Punjab.
Police have arrested 25 people belonging to the woman’s family, including her brothers and husband. The suspects killed the victims and then secretly buried them in a graveyard.
Darya Khan police conducted an investigation and have exhumed the bodies which have been shifted to the Tehsil Headquarter Hospital.
A case has been registered against them under Sections 302 (Punishment of qatl-i-amd), 311 (Death or imprisonment for life or a term which may extend to 14 or more years), 201 (Causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to screen offender) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
In a similar incident on Saturday, a boy and a girl were killed for honour in Gujrat city of Punjab. The bullet-riddled and tortured body of the boy identified as Khalil Anwar, aged 19, was found from a pond within the remits of Kunjah police station.
The body of the girl was recovered from a lake in Sarai Alamgir area. The girl’s family claimed she was suffering from mental illness. The police have not acknowledged the crime as an honour killing incident.
DSP Saddar Gujrat Chaudhry Saeed said that they carried out the post-mortem of boy soon after recovering the body, while further investigation is underway.
