KARACHI: The Orangi Town Project Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), along with the district police has demolished more than 130 illegal structures in a three-day operation in Gulshan-e-Zia area of Orangi Town.
According to details, the operation against illegal construction in Orangi Town is being carried out with the help of heavy machinery and area police. Manghopir Police Station and Pakistan Bazar Police Station have fully cooperated in their respective areas.
Officials informed that they had faced some resistance at some places, however, the administration with the help of police overcame the resistance and continued the operation.
Sources have claimed that the land mafia had illegally occupied more than 500 plots in Gulshan-e-Zia area of Orangi Town. Sources further claimed that the land mafia had opened fire several times on the team of Project Director Orangi.
In this regard, Project Director Orangi informed that the administration decided to launch a major operation against the land mafia. “Additional Director Javed Mustafa and Assistant Director Tauqeer Darbari are leading the operation,” project director informed.
On the occasion, Additional Director Javed Mustafa said that due to undue interference of former DC Fayyaz Ahmed Solangi, the land mafia was illegally occupying lands.
It is pertinent to mention here that former DC West Fayyaz Solangi was removed from the post on various complaints of land grabbing and patronage of land mafia.
