LAHORE: Sugar is reportedly being sold at Rs. 85 to Rs. 90 per kg in Punjab’s capital.
The district administration stated that the crackdown is being carried out against profiteers on a daily basis. In the wholesale market, the price of sugar is being sold at Rs. 81 to Rs. 83 per kg.
The district administration fixed the rate of sugar at Rs. 70 but no shop in the city is getting sugar at the official rates. The traders said that supply management should pay Rs. 70 per kg for the sale of sugar.
According to the district administration, several actions have been taken against the profiteers in the past days. Six people have also been arrested after imposing a fine of Rs 50,000.

Inflation rose 0.98 percent in the first week of July, according to the Federal Bureau of Statistics. According to the report, sugar prices continue to rise in the country. In one week, the price of sugar increased by Rs 2.14 per kg.
According to the weekly report of the Bureau of Statistics, the price of sugar has gone up from Rs 80.82 paise to Rs 82.96 paise per kg in seven days. In June, sugar became expensive by 24 paise per kg.
