LAHORE: A local trader brutally tortured his wife inflicting severe injuries that broke her nose cartilage.
The cases of domestic violence keep rising against women in the provincial capital. In the latest incident, a local trader named Umar, who runs a pharmaceutical factory, severely tortured his wife in Gulshan-e-Ravi area and broke her nose.
The woman named Nazish has complained to police but a case has not been lodged yet. She said her husband severely tortured her over a domestic dispute. She said her husband and in-laws have also severely beaten her in the past.
She said her husband was a local trader and held considerable influence. Therefore, the police is reluctant against lodging a case against him.
Police claimed to be awaiting the women’s medical report which has not been received yet after which action will be action and a case will be lodged.
