KARACHI: Assistant Commissioner Gulzari Hijri today (Saturday) raided a suspected Shisha café located near Super Highway and arrested 35 people including girls.
According to details, the district police were allegedly patronizing the café by taking a huge amount of bribe. It has been revealed that the café was illegally constructed.
Sources have informed that the residents have reported several complaints against the café but the district police didn’t take any action. However, the assistant commissioner has sealed the spot.
The step was taken under anti-tobacco laws. The raid team arrested almost 35 people including girls and registered a case against them under Section 262/20, Section 269/279/337 / 188/34. The arrested people will be produced in court after legal proceedings.
In this regard, the assistant commissioner said that the cafe was violating the ban on Shisha smoking. The arrested people also violated the social distancing rules, being implemented across the country to contain the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
