KARACHI: Patron in Chief North Karachi Association of Trade & Industry (NKATI) Capt. A Moiz Khan and President Nasim Akhtar have sought the intervention of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in the matter of garbage dumping and chingchi rickshaws stand in Industrial area.
They have requested to issue instructions to the concerned authorities to eliminate illegal Raksha stand and ensure cleanliness in the industrial area so that industrial production activities can continue uninterrupted.
In a statement, NKATI leaders said that in the North Karachi Industrial Area garbage points have been set up at various places on roads and internal routes so for that reason the supply of raw materials to factories and shipments of export goods are being severely affected.
“Garbage dumping points have been set up on road and now chingchi rickshaws pullers have also set upstand. Due to piles of rubbish on the main roads of North Karachi Industrial Area and a large number of chingchi rickshaws parked on both sides of the road, one road has been closed”, they pointed out.
In addition, due to garbage dumps and chingchi rickshaws on road, the cargo trailers are facing difficulty in reaching the industries. Despite repeated complaints to DMCs, garbage dumps have not been removed from the North Karachi Industrial Area.
Capt. A Moiz Khan and Nasim Akhtar requested to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Minister Local government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah to direct DMCs to make arrangements for garbage collection from North Karachi Industrial Area on a regular basis.
“Orders should be issued to the concerned authorities to remove the chingchi rickshaws from main roads of industrial area and restore the flow of two-way traffic on the road,” they concluded.
