SARGODHA: The district police have foiled a heroin smuggling attempt from Sargodha to Lahore and arrested a lady smuggler, a police spokesperson said.
According to details, Satellite Town police station was informed that a female, named Saima Noor, was trying to smuggle heroin worth millions of rupees from Sargodha to Lahore.
After receiving information, a police team comprising ladies officers established barricade near North Qingqi Junction and stopped the suspicious car.
A police spokesperson informed that on thorough search, a total of 15,000 grams of heroin was recovered from the car. Meanwhile, police seized other items including mobile phones recovered from the female smuggler and have registered a case against her.
The police spokesperson said that woman belongs to an inter-district drug dealer group. However, further investigation is underway.
Earlier on June 26, the district police foiled an arms smuggling attempt from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Punjab in the Darra Adam Khel.
The police, on a tip-off, established barricade near Eagle fort on Indus Highway and signaled a suspicious vehicle. On thorough search, the police recovered arms included 7 Kalashnikovs, 2 rifles, 32 chargers, and several magazines. Police have also arrested a man and registered a case against him.
