KARACHI: A teenage boy accidentally shot and killed himself while making a video for the highly popular video-sharing platform TikTok in Karachi’s Sikandarabad today (Sunday).
According to details, the deceased boy, Tanveer, was reportedly filming himself while holding his father’s pistol when he accidentally pulled the trigger, killing himself.
Police officials informed that the family refused a post-mortem and the body was handed over to the family after the completion of the formalities.
The police further stated that the pistol was licensed and belonged to the boy’s father, a labourer. The family had recently arrived in the city from Punjab.
Earlier in April, a 22-year-old man died after being hit by a train while shooting a video at the Jumma Goth railway station in Bhens Colony.
According to the police, Kashif had been running on the railway tracks while doing a TikTok challenge when the train hit him, causing critical head injuries.
In December 2019, a 16-year-old boy, Ammar Haider, was accidentally shot dead while recording a TikTok video with his friends in Sialkot.
