ANKARA (AA): The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Contact Group will hold an emergency meeting via videoconference on Monday to discuss the latest situation of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to a statement by the Islamic Organisation, the online meeting will bring together the foreign ministers of the Jammu And Kashmir Contact Group member states: Azerbaijan, Niger, Pakistan Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.
In this regard, OIC Secretary-General Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen said, “The meeting is part of a series of continuous Jammu And Kashmir Contact Group meetings to address the issue.”
Earlier today, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Sardar Masood Khan had said that India’s election to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is a mockery of the international rule of law and a travesty of justice.
Talking to an international television network, AJK President asserted that India would have no qualifications to uphold the mandate of the UNSC for the maintenance of international peace.
Kashmiri freedom fighters have been fighting against the Indian rule for independence or unification with Pakistan. According to a report, thousands of people have been killed in the conflict since 1989.
Earlier on August 5, 2019, the Indian government revoked Article 370 and other related provisions from its Constitution, scrapping the country’s only Muslim-majority state with its autonomy.
