MUZAFFARABAD: Five people were killed and 18 others injured when a passenger bus fell into the Neelum River in the wee hours on Sunday.
According to the rescue sources, the passengers were going to attain a wedding ceremony when the accident occurred. Rescue officials further said the ill-fated vehicle plunged into the river while negotiating a hairpin bend.
Soon after the accident, rescue workers reached the spot and shift the bodies and injured to a nearby hospital. Some of the injured are stated to be in critical condition.
In a separate road accident, three people were killed and another was injured when the vehicle overturned on the motorway near Mureedwala on Sunday morning. Two brothers were among the deceased, according to rescue officials.
The injured were shifted to a nearby medical facility. The deceased were on their way to Lahore when the accident took place.
Earlier, five members of the same family were killed and three others sustained serious injuries when the car they were traveling collided head-on with the Mazda in Burewala area of Punjab on June 12.
According to the details, a local trader Muhammad Irshad along with his family had on his way home when their car collided with the Mazda near Adda Mana Mor in Burewala.
Muhammad Irshad, his wife and his three children died on the spot while his three other children sustained serious injuries in the accident.
