RAWALPINDI: A security guard of a fuel station was shot dead during a robbery attempt in Rawalpindi today (Thursday).
According to details, two unidentified dacoits riding on a motorcycle arrived at the petrol pump, near GT road in Wah Cantt, and tried to snatch the cash from the cashier.
The security guard tried to put off resistance on which one of the dacoits opened fire on him. Resultantly, the guard died on the spot whereas the dacoits fled after looting cash.
Sources informed that the deceased security guard has been identified as Muhammad Deen, whose dead body was moved to hospital for autopsy.
Locals alerted police which rushed to the scene and collected evidence so that investigation could be begun against the dacoits. Meanwhile, City Police Officer (CPO) also took notice of robbery and ordered his subordinates to visit the crime scene.
Police have informed that the city has been cordoned off and a search was underway to arrest the attackers.
