LAHORE: Local police on Sunday claimed to have apprehended three men for allegedly gang-raping a 13-year-old girl in Lahore.
According to sources, an FIR was registered by the girl’s family 15 days after the crime took place. Sources further said the girl was admitted to a hospital where her medical tests were conducted.
The test results showed that she had been gang-raped, sources added. The suspects were identified as Shahzad, Omar and Arsalan. The suspects are distant relatives and neighbours of the victim sources informed.
The police have taken them into custody and started an investigation into the matter. A police officer said a challan will be filed against them and they will be presented before the court soon.
The victim’s family appealed to the prime minister, Army chief, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and IGP Punjab to take action against the accused and order to provide an exemplary punishment to them.
Earlier, an accused Fawad Khan allegedly raped a young girl for three months on the pretext of marriage in the Peerwadhai area of Rawalpindi.
After a couple of months, when the girl asked him to marry the accused refused, sources added. The girl said, “I work in a travel agency in Rawalpindi where my co-worker driver Fawad Khan cheated me and has been committing adultery with me for three months”.
The victim also alleged that the accused and his brother threatened dire consequences if she raised a complaint against them.
The victim said when she has applied for a case against accused at the relevant police station, however, police had been trying to hush up the matter as the accused involved in the crime is an influential criminal.
