KARACHI: Sindh Anti-Corruption Establishment today (Saturday) has arrested Deputy-Director Land, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), Muhammad Ibrahim, over alleged involvement in land grabbing.
According to details, the accused, Muhammad Ibrahim, is a Grade 17 office. Anti Corruption Officials claimed that the accused is also involved in issuing fake leases.
In this regard, Deputy Director Anti-Corruption has said that the action was has been taken on the direction of Chief Secretary Sindh.
He further said that Muhammad Ibrahim has allegedly grabbed two plots of a woman named Rashida Ishaq by issuing fake leases. Later, the woman filed an application against him in the Anti-Corruption Department.
Two associates of Muhammad Ibrahim are absconding. One of the associates is a government employee. The detained person is being interrogated, sources said, adding that after the interrogation of the accused, more KMC officers involved are likely to be arrested.
Earlier on June 3, the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has developed the course of action against illegal constructions and encroachments in the city.
SBCA chairman Nasim-ul-Ghani Sahito has issued the code of conduct to be followed while taking action against illegal construction. This involves disconnecting all civic facilities – water, gas, and electricity – to these encroachments in cooperation with utility companies.
