KARACHI: The Sindh Food Authority today (Friday) has temporarily sealed a restaurant, named Milano Pizza and Fast Food, located in Karachi’s Zamzama area for violating the rules and regulations.
According to details, SFA’s Deputy-Director South District Shahzeb Sheikh and his team raided the eatery and found that it was operating in unhygienic conditions. The restaurant also didn’t have food quality licenses.
The team collected samples of oil and other food items and dispatched them for lab tests. In its inspection report, the food authority said that the restaurant was found in the worst condition with flies present everywhere and rusted equipment being used for cooking.
Additionally, defective and expired items were also recovered, on which the Sindh Food Authority issued a fine of Rs 25,000. The Sindh Food Authority had received several complaints against the restaurant through social media and complaint cell.
An official of the provincial food authority has informed that the operation against unlicensed eateries would continue in Karachi.
Earlier in January, the Sindh Food Authority raided hotels and restaurants on Karachi’s Burns Road. It sealed four eateries for violating rules and regulations. These eateries included Al Naz Biryani Center, Hafiz Sweets, Hot & Spicy Restaurant, and a fast-food joint.
