KHANEWAL: At least six people were killed and 32 others injured as a speeding passenger bus overturned near Pull Rangu in Khanewal on Sunday.
According to police sources, the bus going from Shakargarh to Bahawalpur had suddenly overturned while saving a motorcyclist near Pull Rangu in Khanewal. As a result, Six passengers died on the spot, while 32 sustained severe injuries.
Rescue 1122 District Emergency Officer, Dr Ijaz Anjum said that those who were critically injured were shifted to Nishtar Hospital, Multan, while others were moved to district headquarters (DHQ) hospital Khanewal and tehsil headquarters (THQ) hospital Kabirwala.
Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Sherazi called the doctors on duty at the hospitals and expressed grief over the loss of precious lives in the incident. Sherazi also instructed the hospital’s administration to make sure the best treatment to the injured.
Assistant Commissioner Shabbir Dogar reached the trauma center at DHQ Khanewal to inquire about the health of injured and reviewed the treatment facilities.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar expressed deep sorrow over the loss of precious lives in the Khanewal bus accident and sought a detailed inquiry report from Commissioner Multan on the incident.
Chief Minister Buzdar also issued instructions for the best possible treatment to the injured people, according to an official handout issued Sunday. CM extended sympathies to the bereaved families and prayed for the early recovery of the injured.
