WASHINGTON: Around the world, the coronavirus pandemic has killed more than 228,267 people and infected over 3,221,653.
According to the latest data, nearly one million patients have recovered from the pandemic so far. In the United States, nearly 1,064,572 cases were confirmed, including more than 61,669 deaths. The US reported an increase of 2,400 deaths in the past 24 hours.
Italy, which recorded its first coronavirus death at the end of February, has 27,682 fatalities, with 333 people succumbing to the disease in the last 24 hours. Spain has recorded 24,275 fatalities with 453 in a single day and 236,899 infections.
China has to date declared 4,633 deaths and 82,862 cases, with 77,610 recoveries. France has reported 437 deaths in a single day, taking the tally to 24,087 deaths and 166,420 cases.
The United Kingdom has reported 795 deaths during the last 24 hours, 26,097 fatalities, and 165,221 infections. Turkey reported 117,589 coronavirus cases and 3,081 fatalities.
In Belgium, 7,501people succumbed to the disease while Brazil reported 5,513 deaths due to the coronavirus. Over 99,399 people have infected while 972 people died of the virus in Russia.
Meanwhile, the death toll is 5,957 in Iran as the confirmed number of cases is almost 93,657. In India, there have been 31,787 cases, with 1,008 deaths. Around 7,747 people have recovered from the virus.
Malaysia has reported 94 new coronavirus cases during the last 24 hours with no new deaths. The country has so far recorded a total of 5,945 infections, with 100 fatalities.
