WASHINGTON: The death toll from the novel coronavirus has jumped to 218,010, infecting more than 3.1 million people globally.
Around the world, the pandemic has infected more than 3,138,895 people and a number of 956,070 patients have recovered from the deadly virus.
China has declared 4,633 deaths and 82,858 cases, with 77,578 recoveries. In the United States, nearly 1,035,765 cases were confirmed, including more than 59,266 deaths. The US reported an increase of 2,470 deaths in the past 24 hours.
Italy, which recorded its first coronavirus death at the end of February, has 27,359 fatalities, with 333 people succumbing to the disease in the last 24 hours. Spain has recorded 23,822 fatalities with 331 in a single day and 232,128 infections.
France has reported 437 deaths in a single day, taking the tally to 23,660 deaths and 165,911 cases. The United Kingdom has reported 360 deaths during the last 24 hours, 21,678 fatalities, and 161,145 infections.
Turkey reported 114,653 coronavirus cases and 2,992 fatalities. In Belgium, 7,331 people succumbed to the disease while Brazil reported 5,083 deaths due to the coronavirus. Over 93,558 people have infected while 867 people died of the virus in Russia.
The death toll is 5,877 in Iran as the confirmed number of cases is almost 92,584. In India, there have been 31,332 cases, with 1,108 deaths. 7,747 people have recovered from the virus.
