ISLAMABAD: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood has said PTI government has introduced the biggest stimulus package in the history of Pakistan to support the nation in this difficult time amid COVID-19 epidemic.
Talking to a news channel, the advisor said despite the huge challenge of debt, PM Imran Khan preferred to give relief to people who are suffering from lockdown restrictions.
He said just one program is not adequate to support all segments of the society, therefore the government is introducing various programs to assist all sectors.
The Adviser said under Ehsaas program an amount of 144 billion rupees was earmarked to help needy people, adding that which the amount is being disbursed in a transparent manner across the country.
He said the government was finalizing a scheme to support Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) across all the sectors in the country.
Razak Dawood added to give instant relief to Small and Medium Enterprises the government will pay their three-month electricity bills.
The government was committed to resolving all the major issues of small business to provide them a better business environment in current challenging situation, he added.
He said under another program the unemployed laborers will be provided with cash benefits and for this purpose 75 billion rupees have been set aside, adding that some other programs to support the informal workers of the country will be introduced in the next few days.
He informed under digitization policy of the government, to encourage the IT sector in the country, mobile phone prices will also be decreased.
He said a program is being launched to help the people who have been laid off from their jobs.
