MANSEHRA: At least five people were killed and three others sustained serious injuries when a jeep plunged into a ravine near the Churkalan area in Mansehra in the wee hours of Friday.
According to police sources, a fast-moving jeep plunged into a deep ravine near the Churkalan area. As a result, five people, including a newlywed bride suffered severe injuries and died on the spot.
Police further said three other people were also injured in the accident. Soon after the accident, rescue workers and police reached the spot and shifted the bodies and the injured to a nearby hospital.
Rescue sources said that the jeep, carrying the bride and other participants of a wedding, was on its way when the driver lost his control over the vehicle while taking a sharp turn in the area.
In a separate road accident in Karachi, a speeding oil tanker hit a motorcycle in the Shershah area, as a result, two persons sustained injuries.
According to Eddhi workers, the injured were identified as Imran, aged 26 and a woman, Ayesha. The injured were shifted to a hospital for treatment.
