NAUSHEHRO FEROZE: Police claimed to have arrested two suspects allegedly involved in the murder of a Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) lawmaker Shahnaz Ansari in Nauhehro Feroze.
According to Sindh police spokesman, acting on a tip-off, the police carried out a targeted raid at a house in Nauhehro Feroze and arrested the alleged killers of late MPA Shahnaz Ansari.
Police disclosed the identifies of the accused as Waqar and Akhtar Khokhar.
Sindh Inspector General of Police congratulated the SSP Nauhehro Feroze and his team for the arrests and directed him to ensure a transparent and impartial probe of the case.
Earlier on 15 February, Pakistan Peoples Party MPA, Shahnaz Ansari, was shot dead over a land dispute between two groups in Naushehro Feroze district.
Ansari had gunned down allegedly by her deceased brother-in-law’s nephew Zahid Khokhar, according to police. The PPP leader was attending Khokar’s Chehlum in a village near Khan Marri area when the incident took place.
She suffered two gunshots and was taken to the People’s Medical Hospital in Nawabshah where she succumbed to her wounds. Several PPP elected representatives and workers gathered outside the hospital after hearing the news of the incident. Police cordoned off the village but the suspect and his accomplices successfully fled the crime scene.
