ISLAMABAD: Minister for Power Omar Ayub has termed Pakistan as a large market and invited the industries of the world to invest in the country.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of Energy Week organized by NEPRA today (Monday), Omar Ayub said, “Pakistan is an open market with high rate of returns and we are also removing barriers of entry.”
Omar Ayub also expressed satisfaction that several companies showed interest in relocating their companies to producing wind tribunes and solar panels to Pakistan.
The Minister highlighted investment opportunities in Pakistan’s energy sector and said that one Hundred billion dollars including forty-five billion dollars in power generation, twenty billion dollars in transmission and fifteen to twenty billion dollars in distribution.
Commenting on public relief, he said that the federal government was trying to provide customers with affordable and reliable power by producing 75 to 80 percent power from original resources.
He said that renewable energy policy has been formulated under which the shares of alternative sources of energy will be increased.
